Madonna Writes

Defining life one word at a time

Fallen Leaf

by

in

1–2 minutes

So many days she hoped to be alone. Away.

And in one instant, her wish was granted.

She liked anonymity at first,

the wind carrying her to someplace new and different.

She relished the fact that she was long since forgotten,

No longer forced to share space with others like her.

Falling

Flying

Landing in the cold, wet underbelly of the world,

a far cry from her previous perch close to the sky.

The journey of first being tossed on the cold pavement, then

walked on,

and later fumbling into

the abyss

to her bitter

solitary

end.

This was her path now.

She was pulled down deeper into

the darkness.

The murky, dank surroundings engulfed her body,

breaking it

to pieces.

She was scared of her end but more so of

the unfortunate truth.

Not how it was going to end but that it was going to end for her

and her alone.
